Where In the World Has Team VP Been?

Fall is one of our very favorite times of year for so many reasons. Pumpkin spice is in the air, the weather is starting to change, and the National Wooden Pallet and Container Association's annual Fall Plant Tour's are upon us. It is the final industry event of the year where the membership comes together to tour member facilities and even facilities of companies that are in different business sectors but whose operations rely heavily on pallets and wood packaging. This is such an important and valuable event in that we are able to share ideas and look at different ways that we can improve many common challenges that we face each day within our respective businesses.

This year, we had the opportunity to visit the great state Texas where we spent two days in Houston. We visited three very impressive operations, where the industries and sectors of business served rely heavily on new pallets. It was quite an experience to see three operations, two of which were pallet manufacturers and the other a logistics service provider. We were able to see two extensive lumber milling facilities and great production automation. We would like to sincerely thank our plant hosts for their generous hospitality. Team Valley Pallet had the opportunity to host last year's (2016) Fall Tours, where we hosted 250 of our closes friends for lettuce and celery field harvest tours, a processing plant tour and finally, a tour of our Salinas, CA facility. It was a great honor to host, an honor which we will forever be grateful. We know the hard work that goes in to the tour so we thank our hosts as well as the NWPCA staff.

As we wind this year of events down, we are already eager to get the 2018 event season kicked off! You can catch us at the Western Pallet Associations' Annual Meeting in January and the NWPCA's Annual Leadership Conference in March! Also, for a glimpse of the 2017 tours, CLICK HERE

Wood Pallets: The Past, The Present, The Future?

Wood Pallets: The Past, The Present, The Future?

The internet of things is proving you can teach even the oldest of dogs the newest of tricks.

In this instance, the sustainable wooden pallet is that old dog and it could soon be playing ‘fetch’ with its own piece of wood as part of a digital makeover that may soon incorporate smart tracking, and even temperature and load monitoring, to optimise the location of products and the reduction of wastage.
